Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed his disappointment over yet another VAR controversy during his team's 2-0 defeat to West Ham United. Tomas Soucek's goal survived a lengthy investigation, with replays showing that the ball could have gone out before the chance was created. Despite Arteta's concerns about technology, he acknowledged his team's missed chances, with 30 shots and a record 77 touches in West Ham's box. This defeat prevented Arsenal from having the opportunity to go top in the Premier League. Arteta, who has previously been charged by the FA over comments on a similar incident, adopted a more cordial tone.

West Ham manager David Moyes celebrated his first league win away to Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool or Manchester United in 73 attempts. Moyes hinted at possible contract discussions, as his current deal expires at the end of the season. Meanwhile, reports suggest that Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is set to join Arsenal in the final year of his contract. Lloris, who has been sidelined at Spurs this season, refused to be approached by other clubs in the summer. The deal is said to be finalized and no transfer fee is involved. France World Cup-winning captain Lloris joined Spurs in 2012 and made more than 400 appearances before retiring from international football in January 2023.

In a related transfer update, 37-year-old Christian Eriksen is set to re-join Tottenham Hotspur following his exit from Inter Milan. The deal has reportedly been done and agreed and is expected to be finalized without a transfer fee. Eriksen's return could provide depth and experience to Spurs' midfield, adding a familiar face to the

 team.
